A scientific journal that claims to be indexed in the Scopus database must meet its requirements, one of which is the high quality of research content and its design. Let us take a closer look at the algorithm for preparing a scientific work for publication.
What must be indicated in the article?

Scientific style |

Problematics |
In scientific article, it is important to indicate the need to develop this idea, to reveal the main problems and ways to solve them. It is necessary to analyse and describe promising directions for the development of this subject in practice. | An article is a logical, clear, and objective presentation of the essence of the study. The text should have few synonyms and colloquial vocabulary. Opinion is expressed only if the author explains something, and this has a logical and rational connection. | Scientific article should be original, bring innovative ideas and valuable results that have not been previously published in journals. All materials used from other sources should be included in the list of references, and the names should be written in the bibliography. It is necessary to select relevant literature for the study. | The article should solve the problem, operate with data, statistics, showing the approaches of different scientists to it. It is important to summarise, highlight conclusions, make recommendations, and talk about further directions in the study. |
Technical guidelines for the layout of a scientific article
- If possible, the text of the article and its abstract must be translated into academic English so that as many scientists as possible can read them.
- The uniqueness of the article is not less than 85%. Each article, when submitted for review, undergoes a mandatory verification for the anti-plagiarism.
- All graphic materials should be formatted and be as informative as possible. All figures in the articles must be signed and numbered.
- It is necessary to correctly form all the author's data so that there are no errors.
- It is important to accurately and correctly select the keywords (5-10 words) by which the article will be easy to find.
- The bibliography is arranged in alphabetical order. It must contain at least 20 sources that have been published over the past 3 years. There must be at least 15 foreign sources.
Article structure
In most cases, the article is laid out following the international requirement – the IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, And Discussion). These are the key sections of the international article structure. Let us look at what its complete structure should be.
Title
It is especially important to put the entire essence of the article into the title. It should attract attention and be without an abbreviation (only if it is known). First of all, it is by title that other scientists are looking for the information they need.
Abstract
With a well-written abstract, researchers will be able to grasp the meaning of the article, get interested in it, and read the entire text. What questions should the abstract reveal: Why and how was the experiment conducted? What results have been obtained subsequently, and what do they mean for science?
Introduction
This section should answer several questions: what has already been done in the subject area; what scientists do not yet know; what will be investigated in this article. There should be no water in the introduction. Write down the main tasks and hypotheses of the article.
Methods
In this section, it is necessary to describe the research progress as accurately and correctly as possible, indicating all the details. Then, according to your description, other scientists will be able to repeat the experiment.
Results
It is necessary to clearly describe all the results obtained with the use of diagrams or tables.
Discussion
In this section, the scientist explains the findings and how they interact with other discoveries in this or a related subject. Clarify whether the results can be applied in practice, and whether there are weaknesses in this study.
Conclusions
Laying out a scientific article is a painstaking and complex task. You need to understand that when sending a study for review, it can be returned several times for revision, which slows down the publication process. Therefore, if a scientist wants their article to be initially approved according to technical criteria, it is better to give it to professionals for editing.
Our company, Scientific Publications – Publ.Science has been working in scientific publication consulting for many years and helps publish articles of scientists in journals that are included in the Scopus, Web of Science, and other databases. You can entrust your article to our specialists, and it is guaranteed that it will be reviewed as soon as possible.
As a reminder, we have recently released an article about the exclusion of journals from Scopus in 2020.
