A dissertation is an important element of scientific activity, as it allows one to obtain an academic degree, present one's own contribution to the development of science, confirm one's scientific qualifications, and open up new prospects for professional growth.

Types of dissertations

A PhD dissertation is a type of qualification work written by a researcher to obtain a PhD degree.

A doctoral dissertation is a more complex qualification work performed by a researcher to obtain a Doctor of Sciences degree.

Structure of the dissertation

The dissertation must comply with the established structural requirements, which may vary depending on the university. Differences between PhD and doctoral dissertations

Research objectives. In a PhD dissertation, the research is aimed at optimising/improving the work of the selected industry, while in a doctoral dissertation, it is aimed at developing innovative discoveries confirmed by the author's patented inventions.
Deadlines for accepting dissertations for defence. To obtain a PhD degree, the defence date is set within two months from the date of submission of the relevant package of documents. For doctoral dissertations, this period is four months.
