The President of Kazakhstan signed the law on monthly additional payments to teachers. How will the amount of these additional payments be determined and what does it depend on?

Teachers, who are engaged in scientific and pedagogical activities in higher education institutions, and scientific staff conducting scientific research, will be provided with additional payments to their salaries. The changes are aimed at improving the financial situation of researchers and teachers.
Additional payments to teachers and researchers
According to the document, university teachers engaged in scientific and pedagogical activities, as well as scientific staff conducting research, will receive additional payments to the basic salary. The amount of these payments depends on the academic degree and rank of teachers.
The size of payments:
- Candidate of Sciences with the title of Associate Professor – 25 MPP (92 thousand tenge);
- Doctor of Science with the title of Professor – 42 MPP (155 thousand tenge);
- for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor by profile, Candidate of Science, Doctor of Science and the academic title of Professor – 50 MRP (184 thousand tenge).
Scientists who carry out research activities at their main place of work also receive monthly additional payments for scientific degrees and academic titles.
Young talented scientists under 40 years of age are given the opportunity to receive scholarships from the investment income of the endowment fund of the organisation of higher and (or) postgraduate education.
In addition, researchers working in higher education institutions and scientific organisations may receive a sabbatical leave of up to one year to complete scientific, scientific-pedagogical or scientific-technical projects. During this period, they retain the right to an average salary at the expense of the organisation. One such sabbatical may be granted no more than once every 10 years if the employee has at least five years of scientific and pedagogical work experience. After completion of the sabbatical, scientists are obliged to work in the organisation for at least three years.
Changes in the signed law
- Quotas for educational grants to study in institutions of higher and/or postgraduate education for military personnel after completing military service are introduced.
- The legislation on commercialisation of the results of scientific and (or) scientific-technical activity financed by business entities is improved.
- Local executive bodies are being empowered to participate in the implementation of State policy in the field of science and scientific and technical activity and to create favourable conditions for their development.
Active scientific activity opens numerous advantages for teachers. It contributes to the increase of authority, new scientific achievements, improvement of personal indicators and ratings of educational institutions, as well as promotes the development of science and the like. One of the important advantages for teachers is the possibility of receiving supplements to the basic salary.
