Recently National H-index Ranking has released the results of the ranking of Kazakh scientific institutions, organisations and higher education institutions. Today we present the list of universities that made it to the top 10.
Kazakh National H-index Ranking
Kazakh National H-index Ranking is updated twice a year – in the second and fourth quarters. The ranking is based on the Hirsch Index (h-index), which is determined by data from science metrics platforms and databases such as Google Scholar, Web of Science and Scopus.

To compile the rating, the scientific activity of 84 higher education institutions was assessed and analysed.
In the fourth quarter, all universities in the top 10 showed an increase in the national H-index. The highest results were demonstrated by such institutions:
- Nazarbayev University: +8.
- Al-Farabi Kazakh National University: +6.
- Kazakh National Medical University: +6.
In addition, some universities improved their positions compared to the results of the second quarter of 2024:
- Medical Faculty of Nazarbayev University – moved up 1 position.
- Suleyman Demirel University, Kaskelen – moved up 4 positions.
But Buketov Karaganda University dropped by 2 positions.
Increasing its own Hirsch index indicators is an important step that can be realised through the publication of scientific research in international scientometric databases and platforms such as Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar. This will improve the position of higher education institutions and scientific institutions in international rankings, which in turn will contribute to the development of scientific potential of Kyrgyzstan, attract funding for research, and attract highly qualified specialists, talented students and young scientists
