The first part of the article was devoted to the analysis of 5 out of 11 agencies that specialize in DOI assignment, in particular Airiti, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Cros, DataCite, Entertainment Identifier Registry (EIDR). Today we will consider the specificity of the second part of agencies that have similar accreditation and credentials.
ISTIC & Wanfang Data (The Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China & Wanfang Data Co.)
From 2007 to 2011, the agency was known as Wanfang Data. In the following years, the company became known as the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China. Wanfang Data organisation remained a part of the agency as one of the sub-licensees. ISTIC deals with the DOI assignment for magazines, dissertations, books, conference materials, and multimedia resources of predominantly Chinese authors.
JaLC (Japan Link Center)
The Agency obtained accreditation for DOI in March 2012. One of the company’s priorities is to promote science and technology in Japan. JaLC assigns DOI to materials of leading Japanese scientific institutions, such as the Japan Science and Technology Agency, the National Institute of Informatics, the National Diet Library, and the National Institute for Materials Science. In addition, the company cooperates with Crossref in terms of DOI assignment to the English-language scientific publications of Japan.
Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information
The priority of the organisation is to develop the digital transformation in Korea. The agency assigns DOI to Korean magazines, articles, scientific materials, official government documents, patents, research reports, etc.
mEDRA (Multilingual European DOI Registration Agency)
mEDRA is an international agency that focuses on the individual approach to the client. That is why the specialists work with materials in Italian, English, French, and German languages. The agency actively develops an international system of partnership and mediation: MVB organisation works in the German language sphere, Casalini in Italy, Sinaweb – for DOI assignments in Iran. Crossref provides a platform for mEDRA to store materials that were assigned DOI.
OP (Publications Office of the European Union)
The agency aims to support the structures of the European Union and the registration of DOI for its official publication, monographs published within the EU, as well as several scientific articles. The company's history dates back to 1969.
BSI Identity
The company specializes in DOI assignments to register manufacturers of construction products. BSI Identity also focuses on UPIN identifiers. The UPIN and DOI systems are based on ISO 26324:2012.
