Interview with Marina Yashchenko: Science and scientometrics in Kazakhstan
Marina Yashchenko, Head of «Scientific Publications» (Republic of Kazakhstan), gave an extensive interview to journalists of the Kazakh media outlet InAlmaty.kz. During the conversation, she spoke in detail about the company's activities, structure and development over 8 years of operation.
She also dispelled preconceptions about the legality of the company's activities. She emphasised that “Scientific Publications” provides its services absolutely legally and in accordance with the current legislation.
‘First of all, it is worth emphasising that we work absolutely legally, because we have a national registration in the country, open bank accounts, and have a physical office in Almaty with real employees. That is, a person can come to the office and see if we are really working. Our clients receive guarantees, as we enter into a formal agreement that clearly sets out the terms of cooperation, cost and timeframe for the performance of services,’ Marina Yashchenko said.
During the interview, Maryna Yashchenko focused on the principles of organising cooperation with the company's clients, the stages of publishing articles in professional journals and the international Scopus database, as well as the challenges faced by representatives of the scientific community.
Finally, the head of the company shared “Scientific Publications” plans for the future. According to her, the development strategy envisages expanding the portfolio of its own journals indexed in the Scopus database.
In addition, «Scientific Publications» aims to increase opportunities for scientists from various fields and deepen cooperation with universities and research institutions. To this end, the company holds webinars, seminars, and provides consultations on citation and translation issues, which contributes to the development of the scientific community.
The company also supports its partners from the «Science and metrics» magazine in disseminating relevant information about scientometrics in Kazakhstan, which underlines their pragmatic approach to the development of scientific communication in the region.
