Earlier, we defined the basic principles of working with the Google Scholar scientometric platform. Today we will consider another important point in working with this system: citation checking. Let us define the algorithm of this process in the context of research papers and author profiles in Google Scholar.

Google Scholar: Getting Started
In order to successfully start research work within the Google Scholar platform, you must:
- Pass the author profile registration stage.
- Ensure that all information provided in the profile is correct.
- Familiarize yourself with the main functionality.
- Determine the current position of the author and potential development vectors.
How to check the citation of a Google Scholar article?
If you need to check the citation count of a particular document in Google Scholar, use the advanced search:
- Go to the "Advanced Search" tab and select the necessary search options.
- Or if you need to search by the exact title of the article, you can simply type in a query in the field (like in Google).
- You will be shown a list of the most relevant Google Scholar articles.
- Clicking on the hyperlink in the title will take the user to the source page.
- Citation indicators are placed under the title of the work in the form of a hyperlink "Cited in X sources".
- By clicking on this hyperlink, users are taken to the list of scientific materials where the article was cited.

How to check author citation in Google Scholar?
The algorithm of this process is very similar to the previous one, but still has a number of nuances:
- A Google Scholar search by author must also be performed using the "Advanced Search" features.
- In addition, you can enter a query in the search box in the format "author: Author's name"
- The system will again display a list of scientific papers, but only those that belong to a specific author(s).
- You can click on the author's name (if it's clickable) and go to their Google Scholar profile.
- It will display all the necessary information about citation metrics.
- If the author's name is not clickable, then his profile is not registered with Google Scholar.

How to find an author's profile in Google Scholar?
In addition, you can immediately search not according to the documents of specific authors, which we discussed above, but according to the profiles of scientists in Google Scholar:
- Go to your own profile.
- Click on the search icon (magnifying glass).
- Enter the author's first and last name
- Search.
- Select the required author profile and go to it.
- So you can get acquainted with information about the author's scientometric characteristics, including his citation rates.

How to check your citation in Google Scholar?
In order to study your citation rates and other scientometric characteristics in Google Scholar, you need to:
- Go to your own author profile.
- Check out the overall citation, h-index, and i10-index scores in the panel on the right.
- To study the full list of scientific works and their citation.
- In order to open the list of publications in which the work was mentioned, you must click on the number of citations.
- Or go to the page of a separate document and study its indicators.
